15.04.2013 A Week In Fashion 21.04.2013

Personally, this week in fashion for me has been rather hectic, what with starting back at uni, lots of travelling around the coast and getting a new project brief to work with Watershed, Newquay; however this post is not about my life, it's about the world of fashion, and the main event to draw attention this week has to be Coachella, which will no doubt be the fashion inspiration for the rest of the summer! So get your pen and paper at the ready! Note - tassels, cut-outs and new intriguing lengths, spot any more?
1. Coachella Style by Lookbook.
 2. Olivia Decosta for Please Magazine (note the strong yellow shades!!).
 3. The Redhead IS Back - Not just saying this because I am one, look for yourself! From the models at Valentino to Miu Miu SS13 ad campaigns.

08.04.2013 A Week In Fashion 14.04.2013

This week the main focus is on the innovation and development of fashion, from how we know interpret age old styles to how we are using new technologies to expand the presentation of new designs (such as in Mike Lewis' photographs). Its really all about the juxtaposition of nostalgia with fresh, cutting edges fashion. A particular favourite of mine this week has to be the release of Wildfox's SS13 Lookbook, following the success of their Clueless inspired SS12, this one focuses on American patriotism and vintage pin-ups. Enjoy!
1. Barbora & Maryia by Koray Parlak editorial for Marie Claire Turkey.
2. 'She Moves in Mysterious Ways' annimated photo series by Mike Lewis.
3. 'Window Dressing' by Peter Lindbergh for American Vogue April 2013.
4. 'Hello Sailor' - Wildfox's 1950's Pin Up SS13 Lookbook.
5. Taylor Swift - Tung Walsh's 1960's Wonderland April/May 2013 editorial.
6. Chromat AW13 Lookbook.

From taking SS13's pastel and brights as inspiration to a strong emphasis on black, sexy elegance, to a youthful take on the 1940's. But this week, I would like to highlight the success of Hayden Williams. We are all aware that Beyonce's 'The Mrs Carter Show' is coming very soon, with the intense anticipation of just what she is going to be wearing; so when Hayden posted up his illustrations and fashion designs inspired by her tour, it was no surprise that people went MAD with what ifs (she wears it)?! This even saw his work mentioned on fashion websites, including Vogue.co.uk. So hope you enjoy this weeks round up!
1. Nick Knight's Sky Ferreira for AnOther Man magazine.
2. DSTM SS13 Lookbook.
 3. The Minimalistic Triple Ponytail.
 4. Hayden Williams' fashion design and illustration inspired by Beyonce's up-and-coming tour.
5. Lingerie boutique Petits Bisous' first fashion film; Viewing by Appointment Only.
6. Milou Sluis by Hicham Riad for Marie Claire Belgium.
7. Theatre Products AW13 at Tokyo Fashion Week.
8. Ruven Afanador's take on spring for Town and Country Magazine (April 2013).

Spring Cleaned & Newly Photographed

So, I've been working hard these last few days, as even when I have no design work to do, I get bored just simply relaxing! So I've decided to sort out my life! A little bit of cleaning and sorting. And when I was finished, I decided to photograph and share, as this is where that magic happens, my work studio at home. So enjoy having a nose around!

Above - My notice board; Bellow - My vintage suitcase FULL of all my fabrics and my own designed/printed fabrics.
Above - My desk, sewing machine, photo of Alexander Skarsgard pinned to my wall; Bellow - My name written in Arabic, from when I had a henna of it done on my trip to Morocco. A little memory.
My magazine collection and networking books and tickets.
Above - Fashionable souvenirs from trip to Cuba; Bellow - My muse, I don't care what people say about her, her fearless personal style is so inspiring!
Above - Note the jewelled cat-ears, also note that I brought and wore them first. Now go and watch Taylor Swift's new video 22. (Trendsetting) Just saying. Just Couldn't Help It - Another Update!!! LOOKBOOK THE SERIES

Ok, so I know blogging too much can be a bit OTT for readers, but I just couldn't resist, after getting an email from Lookbook telling me they now have A SERIES OUT!!!! Is anyone else as excited as I am right now?!? So my plans for tonight has been changed, as I now settle down to watch the very first episode, eeeeeeek.
The general story line of this new fashion infused series is inspired by none other than us!! Fashion savy bloggers. It focuses around the lives of two individuals, a fashion blogger, Hannah, and her photographer, and how their relationship develops with time, in the setting of sunny L.A. So, why was it created? “We simply wanted to create something fun for our fans and our community which we thought they’d enjoy. Over the past 4 years we’ve seen an incredibly enthusiastic community of the most talented fashion bloggers emerge on our website. It’s been fascinating to observe, and although the story is dramatized fiction, it’s nonetheless inspired by characters we’ve seen and stories we’ve heard.” Huan Nguyen, Head of Brand Partnerships.
